I RECOGNIZE LIFE’S SETBACKS AND CHOOSE TO BOUNCE BACK QUICKLY

You may or may not know that I practice writing affirmations daily. In fact, one of my affirmations is: “I am goal oriented and write affirmations daily to stay on track.” If you don’t already know what an affirmation is or why it’s important I would encourage you to look here:

I wanted to share the affirmation in the title with you all to point out a few things. First, I have been writing this affirmation for about 8 months now and it has never been so relevant as it is today. Life will always have a way of throwing a wrench in your operation. I think it’s important to NOT mask it with some positive false hope but, rather, to face the adversity head on. Call it what it is. This sucks. I recognize that. I embrace it.
The most powerful part about this affirmation for me is the word “CHOOSE”. I CHOOSE to bounce back quickly. I didn’t choose this virus, the decline in sales, peoples businesses getting shut down, the potential complete collapse of our economy (which was great before by the way). I can’t control ANY of that. Bitching about it won’t help and neither will curling up in a ball, watching the news all day or hiding from the reality of it.
The only choice that any of us ever has about any situation is the way we react to it.
I CHOOSE to prepare for the worst.
I CHOOSE to pivot our business strategies.
I CHOOSE to lead.
I CHOOSE to set goals for myself.
I CHOOSE to maintain a routine.
I CHOOSE to bounce back quickly.

You can choose to suffer through negative self pity. But, I’d ask you what you’re trying to accomplish with that.
